Supporting New Work and New Hampshire Theatre!
Co-Artistic Directors -Amanda Pawlik and Jackie Marcoux
The Granite State Playwrights Workshop is the inaugural project of Working Title Productions, a theatre company dedicated to supporting new work and New Hampshire theatre. The project brought together playwrights, actors, directors, and stage managers from all-across New Hampshire and New England to rehearse and perform staged readings of two new plays –Divine Intent by New Hampshire based playwright Jackie Marcoux and The Boy in the Box by Boston-based playwright Lesley Anne Moreau in September 2016.

The event is inspired by the creative, fast-pace of 24-hour theatre festivals, where writers, directors, and actors, write, rehearse, and perform a play within the span of 24 hours. While participants in the Granite State Playwrights Workshop had slightly more time, the same spirit remained. The cast, production team, and playwrights met on the evening of Friday, Sept. 23, for a read-through of the scripts, rehearsed all day Saturday, Sept. 24, and the morning of Sept. 25, and then presented the readings Sunday afternoon and evening. The event received great response from the audience. Plans are in the works to produce a second Granite State Playwrights Workshop in 2017.
